Week 2 Blog - ESports

Esports has been on the rise for the past 2 years. It's helped people realize that gaming is not just a hobby, but a job in itself. There has been lots of positive feedback and posts regarding Esports. People tweet about the different tournaments that they are hosting and the different team's people are creating. Esports value proposition revolves around fan experience. They host many different tournaments for the fans and put on a show for them. People have said that Esports Business Summit was one of the best conferences put on that they've been to. So not only do they provide the best tournament scene but also they promote themselves in other aspects. People also praise Esports for letting players live their dreams by letting them represent their team on a big stage in whatever game they choose to play. Lastly, people have been super excited about the potential and rise of Esports. It has traveled to different countries and is still spreading. They sell the opportunity to promote other businesses. Companies contact Esports to have them promote their business by publishing ads and products within their events. For example, Esports provides G-Fuel at a league of legends event. Some aspects of marketing we clearly see is the action of companies buying time on the air/at the events to promote their own business. The marketing challenge I see this company facing or could run into in the future is their audience. As of now, they are built around the young community and that could be only viable for a short amount of time. If I was in the position of the brand manager I would be all eyes and ears to the customers. For one they are the center stage of their value proposition so the fans are how they function as a company. There would be very few things we would limit if fans were tweeting or blowing up social media about. I learned that Esports has evolved into something that brings people from all ages and all around the globe to multiple events per year. It has also turned gaming from being once thought of as a waste of time to becoming a career for many lucky individuals.
